Mobility Based Guard Channel Scheme for Cellular Networks

In this paper, a dynamic version of the Guard Channel Scheme (GCS) for cellular networks is illustrated to show the relation between bandwidth threshold and system mobility. The bandwidth threshold is dynamically changed according to mobility values. We propose a new equation which shows the relation between bandwidth threshold (Bt) and mobility. The effect of mobility on Bt is investigated using simulation. The results show that the proposed model can be used to effectively adjust the required threshold according to system mobility.
